A Fall Day in Savannah

My recent road trip down to Savannah, GA left me with beautiful memories of old-world charm. And of course, I have to share them with you.

Savannah is ranked 11th on Open Table’s 25 Most Romantic Cities in America. Known for its quaintness and historic downtown district, the city boasts of many must-see attractions. One of its most famous attractions, and perfect for a Halloween or Fall visit, is Bonaventure Cemetery.

Described by many as “hauntingly beautiful,” the cemetery is rustic, eerie, and breathtaking all at once. Located on 160 acres of land, it is the city’s largest cemetery. Throughout you’ll find Spanish moss, flowers, and marble-like angel statues. Most notable and picture-worthy are its grand mausoleums. The cemetery is open to the public. I recommend visiting during October or November. For one, Savannah is buzzing with Halloween activities and is noted as one of the best cities to celebrate Halloween. Additionally, the weather starts to slightly cool down from the summer heat.

My second stop was at the famous Forsyth Park. The 30-acre park is perfect for an afternoon picnic or hanging out with friends. Its most famous for its historical fountain. The fountain is said to have been modeled after the fountains of Paris’s Place de la Concorde. Built in 1858, the historical fountain is frequented by visitors and is the perfect spot for scenic photos.
